Mob Beat Pastor To Pulp In Crusade For Preaching While There Is Hunger In Country, See His Next Move
The residents of Atands Street, Shogunle area of Oshodi, Lagos have diverted anger of the economic hardship on a cleric identified as Pastor Ojo Olusegun for causing noise pollution in the area while people were hungry.
Based on the report gathered by the newsmen, the pastor decided to organize a crusade and preach in the area when some group of residents invaded the crusade and descended on the pastor by attacking and stoning him for disturbing the peace of the community members during this period of economic hardship.
While speaking with the newsmen, a source from the community who prefers. not to be mentioned revealed that after the pastor had been attacked and stoned, another angry group of residents. began to rain fist blows on him. They scattered the crusade and chased everyone present away,
He added that during the attack, some residents carted away the speakers he rented from a DJ known as DJ Planter. In addition to the assault, the pastor was
also left with a liability to settle.
According to the source, the members of the church all left the area after the crusade had ended abruptly. The pastor then visited the Police at Shogunle Division to report the assault
He further revealed that shortly after the police received the report, they swung into action and quickly apprehended a 47-year-old man, Ishola Jamiu, and a 42-year-old man, Adepoju Abdulrahman. The two arrested suspects were detained in police custody for interrogation over the assault on the pastor.
After rounds of interrogation, the Police found them culpable and consequently charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged assault and stealing, which attracted several years of imprisonment.
Following the arrest, the two suspects were arraigned before the court of law. During the court hearing, they entered a not-guilty plea to the allegations leveled against them.
While addressing the court, Raji Akeem Supol who happens to be the prosecuting counsel urged the court to pronounce the date for hearing as the suspects entered a not-guilty plea so that the police would begin an Investigation to prove them guilty of the offense.
happens to be the Presiding Magistrate offered the two suspects a bail option of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum,
stating that the sureties must present proof of means of livelihood before the
court.
Mrs. Osunsanmi adjourned the matter and ordered the suspects to be returned
to custody at the correctional center at
Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the time they fulfill their bail options.
