Court Delivers Surprising Verdict On Ganduje’s Alleged Dollar Bribery Video; Here’s Their Verdict
The court ruled that the state government lacked the legal authority to probe APC national leader Abdullahi Ganduje over the alleged dollar bribery. A Federal High Court in Kano determined that the charge against Ganduje was a

Ganduje is under investigation for bribery after being seen on film collecting dollar bonds from a contractor while serving as governor.

According to Premium Times, Justice. Abdullahi Liman stated in his decision. that the charge against Ganduje was a federal offence that could only be prosecuted by the Attorney- General of the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The video sparked public outrage and calls for Ganduje to resign or face prosecution. However, Ganduje denied the allegations and claimed that the video was doctored and part of a political witch- hunt.
He refused to honour the invitation of the
Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-
Corruption Commission, which launched
an investigation into the matter. He also
sued the news platform and the
contractor for defamation and
demanded N3 billion in damages.
Despite the scandal, Ganduje remained
in power and completed his second term
as governor of Kano in 2023. He then emerged as the national chairman of the APC, the ruling party in Nigeria, after a controversial convention that saw him. defeat other aspirants. His emergence was seen as a boost for his political ambition to run for president in 2027
However, his successor and former ally,
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, has
distanced himself from Ganduje and his faction of the APC. Yusuf, who was Ganduje’ s deputy governor for eight years, fell out with him over the creation of new emirates in Kano, which was seen as a move to weaken the influence of the
Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
Yusuf also accused Ganduje of
mismanaging the state s resources and
neglecting the welfare of the people.
In a recent development, Yusuf has sent
a strong message to Ganduje, saying
that he would not be leaving the APC for
another party, as speculated by some
political analysts. Yusuf said that he was
loyal to the APC and its founding
principles, and that he would not
abandon the party that gave him the
mandate to govern Kano.
He said that leaving one’s political party
is like leaving a home and moving to
another, and that there are procedures
for doing things. He said that Ganduje,
who had been a governor and a deputy
governor, should know better than to
interfere with his administration or
dictate his political choices.
He said that he was focused on
delivering good governance and
development to the people of Kano, and
that he would not be distracted by the
antics of Ganduje or his cronies.
