See How Woman Was Accidentally Beaten Up By Angry Mob, Stripped Naked For Kidnapping Children For Rituals
In Lagos a sad story took place when a woman narrowly avoided death when she was accused of child theft by a furious mob. The mob proceeded to physically assault her, exposing her naked body and leaving her severely Injured.
The woman was almost lynched by the mob before detectives from Layeni Police Station in Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government Area intervened and rescued her and the children. During the attack, one of the children sustained a facial injury and was covered in blood as the beating persisted.
Reports indicate that the woman was seen at Suru Alaba Market Bus Stop with multiple children under the age of five. Witnesses at the scene became wary upon noticing the children, who seemed to be of similar ages, causing doubts. about the woman’ s assertion of being their mother.
After being interrogated by the curious onlookers, the woman reportedly claimed that two of the children were her own, while the other two belonged to her sister. According to a bystander the enraged group still harbored doubts, with certain individuals accusing her of intending to use the children for ritualistic activities.
There were allegations that she had reportedly taken the children from different individuals at the market, it was claimed that the woman was subjected to brutal beating, with both men and women joining in to strip her naked her, blouse, and bra were torn apart. It was also stated that without the intervention of the police, the woman would have been killed.
At the police station, the suspect got in touch with a woman who claimed to be her mother; upon seeing the injured child, the elderly woman collapsed to the ground and started weeping. A police insider at the station disclosed that the woman declared that she was the mother of the female who had been stripped.
The elderly woman detailed that her daughter had given birth to two of the children before marriage and left them in her care. She also mentioned that another daughter had given birth to the other two children, revealing that the father of the children had gone to Angola this leaving her behind to take of the children now in her care.
She explained that she lived on Ezeagu Street in Ajegunle, while her attacked
daughter resided in Coker, the grandmother stated that she had visited her daughter’s house to care for her newborn baby. Furthermore, she mentioned that she had asked her daughter to bring the children to her and expressed remorse over the mob’s
actions.
According to a police source, detectives
were sent to the grandmother’s home to verify if the children were in her care. Subsequently, a large crowd assembled on Ojo Road in Ajegunle to catch a glimpse of the woman who had been. assaulted alongside her children, prompting police to block their entry into the station, Validating the information, Ngozichukwu Braide, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, affirmed the woman and her four children were rescued and taken to the station. Braide further indicated that the police were
currently investigating to ascertain the
complete facts of the matter.
