In the now-viral video, the cleric can be heard claiming that President Bola Tinubu’s victory was the result of a sham, according to Sahara Reporter.
Without citing any particular sources to back up his assertion, the cleric claimed that Oluremi Tinubu, as a pastor, ought to bear the consequences of her beliefs. He even went so far as to propose that her execution would be compliant with the Quran.
These concerning comments have provoked anger and prompted questions about religious freedom and tolerance in Nigeria.
“Now, Tinubu, his wife is an infidel. As an infidel, she is a leader among the infidels. God’ s judgement says she must be killed. She’ sa pastor. a leader of infidels (Christians); Allah says they must be killed. ” he said.
Further fanning the flames are the cleric’ s remarks on the Muslim/Muslim ticket that propelled President Bola Tinubu to office as a hoax. Sending shockwaves across the nation and abroad, he declared that Oluremi Tinubu should be murdered for being an unbeliever.
Joining others to condemn the video, a former senator of Kaduna, Shehu Sani said the Islamic Cleric who expresses such views has done a highly condemnable thing.
