“I Caught Her Naked On Top Of My Son In My Car”- Female Lawyer Who Burnt Housegirl’s Genital Makes Shocking Allegations
The lawyer, Mrs Adachukwu Okafor, who
was arrested and taken to court for allegedly inflicting wounds on the body of her 11-year-old housemaid, was denied bail by the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court at the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Awka, which had her remanded at the State Criminal and Investigative Department (SCID) in Awka.
The suspect, who stays at Chris Igwilo
Street Akapka GRA, Onitsha, Anambra State, appeared before the Court in Awka, facing two allegations. The court was presided over by Justice Genevieve Osakwe Recall that it was reported earlier that Okafor allegedly used various objects such as a broken bottle, knife, and electric iron on her house help. Happiness Nwafor, because of an Incident Involving her child.
The allegations against her border on wilfully inflicting wounds on the girl, which violates Section 4 (1) of the 2017 Violence Against Persons (Prohibition & Protection) Laws of the state. The lawyer pled not guilty to the charges.
Okafor had turned herself in to the state
police in Awka, after the Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy- Ohanenye, had set a bounty of N2 million on her head, for anyone who knew her location. Speaking with news media after the
court session, the defendant’s counsel,
Nwankwo, when asked why it took his client time to go to the the police, said that he was didn’t know of any bounty placed on his client, explaining that he was only called for the job, after which he he took her to the police promptly.
The counsel alleged that the state Ministry of Women and Social Welfare were already doing trial by ordeal”, which he claimed wasn’t in the best Interest of the case. Also at the court was the victim, Happiness, who had since been discharged from the hospital. Okafor was interrogated when she appeared before the commissioner at her office. She denied using hot Iron and knife on the maid’s genitals and other parts of her body, as was seen in the viral video,
She alleged that she was only whipping
the maid for abusing her son, when she (the maid) suddenly fell on the blades of her cooking gas burner. While I was driving, my car broke down at about 3:00
that day, and I went to buy something.”
“When I came back, I met the girl, naked
on top of my six-year-old son in the
vehicle, I wanted to beat her, but she
took off. The security men in the area
caught her and brought her to me. “When I arrived home and was preparing dinner at about 9: 00, I began flogging her for what she did, but when she tried to escape, she fell with her backside on the blades of the cooking gas. She also fell with other parts of her body on the blades. I never inflicted any injury on her as alleged
On why she did not get the victim to the
hospital when she saw the injuries, the
suspect said it was already late in the night. “I did not see the extent of the Injuries that night. I couldn’t take her to the hospital the next day, because I had to get my kids ready for school.” “I had her locked up in the house so I would focus on her later, when I came back. I later called her people and took her to them. I couldn’t have done that to
her because she isn’t the first person I
had lived with. There were many others.

When asked about fleeing her house.
after committing the crime, the suspect
denied it. I didn’t ever run away. I surrendered to the police. Infact, the next day after the incident, my kids were in school, and I went to work. So, how did i run?” she asked.
