A man who goes by the name, Leeroyx Simabyu, a self-acclaimed proph apprehended and taken into cust after an audio recording of him hitung a female member of his church went viral and caught the attention of police operatives.
Reports from reliable sources who pleaded anonymity claimed that, the head of Springs of Living Waters Ministries in Zimbabwe is well-known for using harsh disciplinary measures against his church members regardless of the gender or how little the issue can be.
However, when Prophet Shiri viciously attacked the middle-aged victim, Violet Ndhleleni, 54 years of age for disseminating false information about him, the scene quickly became more heated. Luckily, Ndhleleni was able to record the incident secretly, and the audio tape that was leaked caused a great deal of public indignation against
the suspected pastor.
Prophet Shiri was heard boasting about his disciplinary measures against other congregation members in the audio clip that was extensively distributed. Hence, after reprimanding Ndhleleni for her perceived disrespect and outspokenness, he can be heard slapping her several times to silence her. Furthermore, he threatened to curse anyone who opposes him with his alleged supernatural abilities.
Reacting to the assault, Ndhleleni filed assault accusations against the clergyman together with two other victims who are part of the prophet’s security team, Peace Tapfumaneyi and Takudzwa Dube.
Prophet Shiri was consequently tracked down and taken into custody after which he was brought before Kwekwe magistrate Mildred Matuvi. A US$50 bail was issued to him. Prophet Shiri is being prosecuted for assault and is currently awaiting further action.
Meanwhile, the community members have been deeply aggrievated over this unexpected actions of the pastor, with many denouncing the prophet’s treatment of his followers and congregation. There are lots of messages and opinions on social media sites from concerned parties asking the appropriate authorities, including local leaders to take immediate action against the said prophet as it would also serve as a deterrent to others like him who are still at large.
