In a rare show of unity and solidarity, the governors of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have issued a stern warning to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leader, President Bola Tinubu, to either step up or step down from their responsibility of governing the nation.
The PDP governors accused the APC of failing to address the myriad of challenges facing Nigeria, such as Insecurity, poverty, unemployment, corruption, inflation, and social unrest.
The PDP governors, who met in Abuja over the weekend, released a statement signed by their forum’s Director-General, Hon CID Maduabum, in which they expressed their deep concern and dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in the country under the APC administration..
They said that Nigerians were suffering and losing hope in the ability of the government to protect and provide for them, regardless of their ethnic, religious, or political affiliations.
The PDP governors urged the APC and President Tinubu to admit their incompetence and incapacity to govern. the nation and to resign honorably if they cannot mobilize the people and the resources for effective and sustainable solutions.
They said that the APC had no moral or legal right to remain in power after creating or worsening the problems that have brought Nigeria to the brink of collapse.
The PDP governors also criticized the Minister of Information, the APC Governors Forum, and other officials of the federal government for attacking and dismissing their previous suggestions, advice, and patriotic interventions on how to move the country forward.
They said that the APC was resorting to propaganda, blame- shifting, and grandstanding instead of listening to the voice of reason and wisdom from the opposition and other stakeholders.
The PDP governors reiterated their commitment and readiness to work with the president and the federal government in finding lasting solutions to the issues facing the nation, but only if the APC would show sincerity, humility, and genuine interest in the welfare and well-being of Nigerians.
