In his heartfelt post, Garba revealed a poignant anecdote from 2011 that underscores Wigwe’ s commitment to excellence and dedication to duty.
“The death of Herbert Wigwe, the CEO of Access Bank Plc, really touched me, ” Garba began, reflecting on the profound impact of Wigwe’ s passing. He then proceeded to recount a personal experience from his time as a professional IT consultant working on an Integration project at Access Bank.
“In 2011, when Herbert was the COO of Access Bank, the IT department was under him, Garba recalled. “I was a professional IT consultant for an Integration project at the bank. We migrated their mailboxes and merged them with those of Intercontinental Bank, after the acquisition. I proceeded to deploy what is called Right Management Services (RMS) to protect their Information flow.”
Garba went on to describe how the deployment of RMS was a critical requirement for the bank’s compliance with ISO 27001 certification, emphasizing the importance of the task at hand. However, it was Wigwe’ s personal involvement and hands-on approach that left a lasting impression on Garba.
“During testing, Herbert would be the first to reply whenever we sent a test mail, no matter how late, “Garba revealed.” He would be the first to confirm if things worked or didn’t. I was not surprised in the least when he became the CEO afterward.”
Garba’ s recollection highlights Wigwe’ s energy, dedication, and unwavering commitment to ensuring the success of the project. It is a testament to Wigwe’s leadership qualities and his willingness to go above and beyond in pursuit of excellence.
