Alao John, the zone’ s coordinator, alongside Sanni Sulaimon Olamide, the general secretary, convened a press conference on Monday in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. They highlighted the pressing economic challenges stemming from inflation, currency depreciation, and the scarcity of essential commodities necessary for sustenance.
The association has set a 14-day ultimatum for President Tinubu to acknowledge our grievances and implement tangible measures to combat the burgeoning crisis fueled by skyrocketing living costs. Failure to act will trigger widespread demonstrations, emphasized the student leaders.
During the briefing, Mr. Alao underscored the severe ramifications of the economic downturn, which have disproportionately affected ordinary Nigerians, making it Increasingly arduous to afford basic necessities such as food, shelter, and healthcare.
“The economic strains have plunged numerous families into financial hardship, with stagnant incomes and soaring prices exacerbating their plunge into poverty, remarked Mr. Alao.
The student body implored Mr. Tinubu to expedite efforts in alleviating the current living conditions crisis, emphasizing the urgent need for decisive action to restore hope and dignity to millions grappling with the harsh realities of economic adversity.
“There is a pressing need for swift and resolute measures to mitigate the repercussions of the escalating cost of living crisis and uplift millions of struggling Nigerians,” asserted Mr. Alao.
