Twenty- one people have been apprehended by the police in connection with the kidnapping of pupils and the killings of two monarchs in Ekiti State. Eight suspects were being held in connection with the kidnapping of pupils, while thirteen people were being held in relation to the deaths of the monarchs, according to Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Muyiwa Adejobi.
Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Omojola- Ekiti, and David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun- Ekiti, were the two traditional leaders that were killed. Adebayo Fatoba, the Alara of Ara- Ekiti, who was involved in the scandal, survived the attack. Inspector- General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has directed that a comprehensive report on the arrests be produced (IGP). The Force PRO stated, ” We are actively working with the 13 people who have been apprehended in connection with the incident. ” We are closely examining the trustworthy and helpful information they are providing us with. ”
In compliance with the IGP’ s directions, the force looks forward to a comprehensive report from the Commissioner of Police (CP) that highlights the ongoing forest operations and may lead to the arrest of other individuals who are causing disturbances in the area. Eight people were concurrently identified as arrested by the Ekiti Police Command in connection with the state’ s school kidnappings. A squad of gunmen kidnapped six kids, three teachers, and a driver from Apostolic Faith School when they were going from Emure to Eporo- Ekiti. The kidnappers, who first demanded N100 million in ransom, were forced to lower their demands for the nine hostages.
