In a tragic turn of events, members of an Anglican Church in Ise Ekiti found themselves facing a nightmare during what was intended to be a routine journey to attend an annual enrollment service in Ado Ekiti. What should have been a day of spiritual unity and fellowship instead ended in sorrow, with three individuals losing their lives and several others sustaining injuries in a horrific road accident.
The journey took a dreadful turn just a few kilometers outside Ise Ekiti, along the Ise- Ikere Road, when a tire on the church bus burst, leading to the driver losing control of the vehicle. The bus veered off the road, colliding with a mango tree before overturning, leaving chaos and devastation in its wake.
Among those affected by this tragic accident was a newly wedded woman, whose hopes and dreams were abruptly cut short by the senseless tragedy. The sudden loss of life and the suffering endured by the injured have plunged the community into mourning and disbelief as they grapple with the harsh reality of the accident’ s aftermath.
Confirming the grim toll of the accident, Olusola Joseph, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ekiti State, disclosed that two individuals lost their lives at the scene, while ten others sustained injuries, their bodies and spirits battered by the ordeal. The injured were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals, where they are currently receiving medical attention in a bid to save their lives and alleviate their suffering.
