In a significant announcement, the Nigerian Army disclosed that it recently executed clearance operations targeting alleged camps of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant arm, Eastern Security Network (ESN), situated along Umulolo- Umukele- Amousu and Agbobu in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State. The sweeping raids, jointly executed by the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force in collaboration with the police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, revealed startling findings.
According to Lt. – Col. Jonah Unuakhalu, the Acting Deputy Director of 82 Division Army Public Relations, the operations unveiled burnt corpses of policemen along with their rank badges, a G- 3 rifle with mounted magazines, and the vehicle utilized by the alleged terrorists.
Moreover, as part of efforts to foster harmonious civil- military relations and cultivate a tranquil society, Maj. – Gen. Hassan Dada, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, visited Eha- Amufu community in Isi- Uzo LGA of Enugu State on January 24, 2024. Addressing the community at their village square, Maj. – Gen. Dada urged cooperation and assistance from the community in the military’ s endeavors to eradicate insecurity within the region.
Assuring commitment to resolving issues such as herders and farmers clashes and youth restiveness, Maj. – Gen. Dada engaged with other security agencies in the council area, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaborative efforts and information sharing for enhanced security in the community and South- East region.
