Nigerian Army Raids IPOB/ESN Camp At Okigwe, Neutralises Kidnappers & Destroys IED-making Factory In Imo
An Eastern Security Network (ESN) bomb manufacturing facility in Imo state was demolished by a combined team of soldiers from the Nigerian Army’s 82nd Division, law enforcement, and agents from other security agencies.
ESN is the paramilitary group of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who are under prohibition.
According to a statement released on Thursday, during a raid at Umulolo in the Okigwe LGA of Imo state, security forces destroyed the bomb plant and the accused ESN members’ hideouts.
The troops also recovered rank badges of two policemen who were kidnapped along the Enugu-Port Harcourt road.
“Other items discovered include Biafran currencies, fake US Dollar bills, Biafran Liberation Army T-shirts, and other Biafran insignia,” the statement reads.
“Military kit bags, cables used for IED detonation and axes. Two suspects were arrested and also burnt policemen’s corpses were discovered for proper burial.”
In a different incident, several alleged IPOB/ESN militants attempted to kidnap a person in Owerri, the state capital, but the army stopped them.
The statement said that following a gunfight, the alleged kidnappers were compelled to leave their victim.
The soldiers found a G-3 rifle with attached magazines, an AK 47 rifle and magazine, and a derelict car.
