In Nyanya, Abuja, a horrifying case of domestic violence has come to light as Aku Bakari has taken his wife, Mary, to the Customary Court. Aku Bakari has accused Mary of making multiple attempts on his life, precipitating his decision to file for divorce and seek legal intervention.
According to Aku, the reason for these violent incidents was his insistence that Mary return to their shared church, leading to an extreme, aggressive response, for Aku Bakari, the situation is dire. He revealed that Mary has made grave attempts on his life, first, she allegedly tried to attack him with a cutlass, but Aku was able to avert the attack by disarming her.
Furthermore, Aku stated that Mary tried to strangle him and on another occasion, even attempted to grab his genitals, he recounted that the intervention of their children was the only thing that saved him. In addition to these violent incidents, Aku claimed that Mary has neglected her duties as a wife and mother due to her unwavering commitment to the church.
Mary, who works as a cleaner, has vehemently denied these claims, setting the stage for what is sure to be a difficult and contentious legal battle. Meanwhile, the presiding judge, Doocivir Yawe, has urged the couple to consider reconciling for the sake of their children and has thus adjourned the case for further proceedings.
