Despite the sit- at- home order prevalent in the South- East region, citizens flocked to the stadium, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a carnival. President Bola Tinubu, a prominent political figure, graced the occasion, emphasizing the significance of the event on a national scale. Governor Uzodimma’ s re- election, secured in the polls held on November 11, 2023, attested to the trust and support he garnered from the electorate. With 540, 308 votes, he surpassed his rivals, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 71, 503 votes, and Nneji Achonu of the Labour Party (LP) with 64, 081 votes. Despite the contestations and rejection of results by the LP and PDP, Governor Uzodimma extended an olive branch in his acceptance speech, urging unity for the development of the state.
