In a startling turn of events on Friday afternoon, a group of protesting women set ablaze the residence of Michal Monday Adanchi, the District Head of Bokkos town in the Bokkos Local Government Area of the state. The unrest stems from the arrest of several community members allegedly involved in the attacks that led to the killing of two Fulani men.
According to a statement released by Christopher Luka Tulladem, the Youth President in Bokkos Local Government Area, the aggrieved women vented their frustration at the traditional ruler’ s residence, the Special Task Force command office, and the Bakkos Divisional Police Officer’ s office. Their displeasure centers around the continuous arrests of Bokkos indigenes following the discovery of two Fulani corpses in the area by unidentified individuals.
Lamenting the situation, the statement revealed that the Nigerian Army had been subjecting the community’ s residents to brutal treatment since Wednesday when the death of the unknown Fulani men was uncovered. It further expressed concern over the alleged violation of the victims, who, in attempting to escape the attackers, ended up suffering incapacitation and gunshot wounds inflicted by the very military meant to protect them.
