In a heart- wrenching and appalling incident that unfolded in Damaturu, Yobe State, law enforcement authorities have taken into custody a 43- year- old man accused of brutally stabbing his wife to death while she lay asleep. This horrifying event came to light through a distress call received by ‘ C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, at the early hours of January 4, 2024. The victim, Ammi Adamu Mamman, a 42- year- old woman, was attacked by her husband, Abubakar Musa, at their residence in New Housing Estate, Bye- pass, Maiduguri Road, Damaturu.
The incident report, shared with the media by the Police Public Relations Officer, Yobe State Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, described the harrowing details of the crime. At approximately 0448 hrs, the police received a distress call reporting a deeply disturbing scene: while both husband and wife were asleep on the same bed, Abubakar Musa allegedly stabbed Ammi Adamu Mamman with a sharp object on her neck. The vicious attack resulted in a severe and fatal cut, leading to profuse bleeding and, tragically, the untimely death of the victim.
Following the distressing discovery, Abubakar Musa was promptly arrested for interrogation. The investigation unveiled a distressing connection between the victim and the suspect– both were identified as staff members of Yobe State University (YSU), Damaturu.
