In a recent development, two special constables associated with the Oyo State Police Command, dismissed following their caught- on- camera attempt to extort money from a female Dutch biker touring African countries, are now pointing fingers at the Nigerian government for their current predicament.
Previously reported by SaharaReporters, the two constables, captured in a viral video soliciting a bribe from the tourist, were promptly apprehended. Subsequently, the duo faced dismissal from the police force, marking their exit from the constabulary as their uniforms were ceremoniously stripped off, confirming the severity of the consequences.
According to the Oyo Commissioner of Police, the decision to dismiss the constables stemmed from a recommendation following an orderly room investigation. The Commissioner stated, ” The two dismissed constabularies would not be prosecuted in court since they were not originally trained officers of the Nigerian police. ”
