The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the successful identification and demolition of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’ s hiding flat in northern Gaza, along with the discovery of a vast tunnel system beneath it. This is a big step.
The Times of Israel reported on the disclosure, which provides insight into the intricate subterranean network that senior Hamas members employ for their clandestine operations.
The 14th Reserve Armored Brigade alerted the IDF to the location of the hideaway apartment, which is outside of Gaza City.
After this finding, the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit looked into it in great detail and found strong proof that Yahya Sinwar had used the apartment as a covert hideout.
An important discovery related to this hideout was the complex tunnel system. The tunnel was accessible by a 20- meter- deep shaft and measured an astonishing 218 meters with multiple branches.
The passageways beneath the surface were furnished with basic facilities like as air conditioning, plumbing, electricity, and special spaces for prayer and relaxation.
