CHRISTMAS HORROR! Church Painted With Blood As Deadly Gunmen Brutally Slaughter Church Members In Cold Blood
In a tragic turn of events, a Catholic Church in Ebonyi State fell victim to a heinous attack perpetrated by yet- to- be- identified assailants, resulting in the loss of three innocent lives, as reported by PUNCH Online.
The harrowing incident unfolded around 11: 30 p. m. on Sunday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, situated in close proximity to the Nkweagu Market within the Abakaliki Local Government Area.
According to a reliable source within the community, the assailants, described as hoodlums, targeted the church, where they callously attacked unsuspecting worshippers. The community source, speaking on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the assailants employed a sinister tactic. They reportedly contacted one of the victims, a well- known Point of Sale (PoS) operator at Nkwuagu Market, instructing him to exit the church. Tragically, as soon as the victim complied with their directive, he was mercilessly shot dead.
The aftermath of this horrifying incident has cast a pall of grief and fear over the community. Villagers find themselves in mourning, and the impact on local economic activities is palpable, with the bustling Nkwuagu Market, situated on the Abakaliki/Afikpo Expressway, paralyzed even on Christmas Day.
Despite attempts to seek clarification from the Ebonyi State Police Command regarding the incident, no official comment was forthcoming as of Monday night. The Commissioner for Police, CP Augustina Ogbodo, and the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, remained inaccessible, failing to respond to calls and messages directed to their mobile phones.
