Former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has vehemently countered the claims made by Private Investigator Mr. Jim Obazee, insisting that the Naira redesign program had received the explicit approval of former President Mohammadu Buhari. Emefiele’ s response comes in the wake of the publication of Obazee’ s report, which raised doubts about the existence of presidential consent for the Naira redesign initiative.
Simultaneously, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, swiftly distanced himself from any involvement in the alleged withdrawal of $6 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), categorically denying any connection to the financial transaction. The former CBN Governor categorically denounced the contents of the report by the Private Investigator, Mr. Jim Obazee, describing them as ” false, misleading, and calculated to disparage my person, injure my character, and to serve the selfish interest of the private investigator. ”
Despite legal counsel advising him to refrain from commenting on matters subject to ongoing court adjudication, Emefiele chose to address specific issues raised in the publications. He refuted the claim that there was no presidential approval for the Naira redesign, asserting that such approval was handed to Obazee during the investigative process, right in front of senior CBN officials and members of the investigative team.
