Diezani Alison- Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources during Goodluck Jonathan’ s administration and a past president of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), has issued a public appeal to the government led by Bola Tinubu, expressing her willingness to return to Nigeria and be held accountable for alleged financial improprieties during her time in office.
Currently residing in the United Kingdom, Alison- Madueke made this plea through a press statement following a medical visit. She disclosed her battle with Stage 2 cancer, acknowledging her past errors and seeking forgiveness from both President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian populace.
In her statement, she admitted to the accusations of financial misconduct during her tenure as the Petroleum Minister, expressing remorse and stating, ” Yes, no one is flawless; sometimes, God Almighty permits such occurrences. However, I would like President Bola Tinubu and Nigerians to forgive me, allow me to return home, and contribute because life is transient. ”
