In a harrowing incident on Saturday at 3: 35 pm, a devastating road crash unfolded at J4 along the Sagamu/Ijebu- Ode/Ore Expressway, claiming two lives and leaving seven others injured. The collision involved a Chevrolet SUV with the license plate WWW75MW and a truck marked SRA584XB.
Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Spokesman, Florence Okpe, conveyed the tragic news to newsmen, confirming that six men and one woman sustained injuries, while one man and one woman lost their lives in the crash. Preliminary investigations point to excessive speed and road obstruction as the suspected causes, with the jeep driver colliding with the stationary truck due to speeding.
A ray of hope emerged as a compassionate Samaritan driver, trailing behind the ill- fated vehicles, rescued the injured victims. Promptly, the Samaritan driver transported them to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the lifeless bodies of the deceased were handled by FRSC operatives, who deposited them at the state General Hospital morgue in Ijebu- Ode.
In response to the tragic event, FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Anthony Uga, urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads.
