In a disturbing revelation, a 29- year- old man going by the name of Amos Olalere— also referred to as the ” Yahoo Boy” in the world of online fraud— confessed to consulting a traditional healer who counselled him to sacrifice his own sibling in order to succeed in his illegal online endeavours.
The shocking revelation was made when Olalere was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command during a routine stop- and- search operation on Itamaga, Ikorodu Road. He was acting on the advice of the native doctor his mother had consulted on his behalf, and was on his way to dispose of his sister’ s body in a river.
At the next interrogation, the suspect admitted to plotting his younger sister’ s murder with his mother and having sex with her corpse in order to carry out money rituals to support his fraudulent internet activities. He revealed that the traditional healer had told them that in order for him to succeed in his fraudulent internet endeavours, which are colloquially known as the ” Yahoo” business, a human sacrifice— specifically, the sacrifice of a sibling— was required.
He claimed that his mother had brought him to a herbalist, who explained that in order for him to succeed in the illegal business, a life had to be sacrificed. He was greatly bothered by the shocking reality that the victim of his choice was his loving sister. Even though he was quite attached to the victim, he finally gave in to the pressure and performed the horrific deed, with his mother supporting him all the way through the preparation.
