SHOCKING! ! ! Carpenter Attacks Lady, Hits Her Dead With Iron Basin, Buries Her Dead Body In Shallow Grave
In a Shocking scene a 54- year- old carpenter, Awele Ukpor, has been arrested for killing a beautiful young woman, Joy Onyekachi, whom he met at a restaurant in the Ajangbadi area of Lagos State on November 19, 2023.
In court on Monday, it was revealed that Ukpor and Onyekachi met at a bar in the neighborhood and had a conversation. It was also revealed that Onyekachi mentioned to Ukpor during their discussion that she had lost her job.
Ukpor then offered to take her home and give her N60, 000 to start a new venture.
Nevertheless, after spending the night with her, he only offered her N20, 000, which was not the original deal, while they were arguing about the money, he reportedly struck her with an iron basin on her head, leading to her death. Later, Ukpor enlisted the assistance of a scrap collector to bury her in a shallow grave behind an abandoned bakery.
Another incident involved the remand of 37- year- old Matthew Isaac at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre on Monday. This was due to the alleged murder of his wife, Mariam Awa, on October 24, 2023, in the Igando area of Lagos State. According to reports, Isaac and his wife had an altercation regarding his choice to travel alone to his hometown to visit his ailing father.
Nevertheless, during the altercation, they engaged in a physical confrontation, leading to her fatal injury, subsequently, Isaac realized that she had passed away, and he reached out to a friend to help him bury her in a shallow grave near their residence. Ukpor and Isaac were charged with a single count of murder and appeared before Magistrate Linda Balogun at a Magistrate’ s Court in Yaba, Lagos State.
The police prosecutor, Chekwube Okeh, informed the court that the defendants’ actions violated Section 222 and were punishable under Section 223 of the 2015 Criminal Law of Lagos State. Okeh requested the court to detain the defendants in the correctional center until legal advice is received from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
” That you, Awele Ukpor, November 19, 2023, at Jelli Close, Ajangbadi, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill the deceased, Joy Onyekachi, aged 24 years, by hitting an iron basin on her head*. Thereafter secretly buried the corpse in a shallow grave and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 222 and punishable under Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. ”
The defendants’ pleas were not entered. In response to the prosecutor’ s request, the magistrate ordered the defendants to be held at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until legal counsel from the (D P P) was obtained. Magistrate Balogun also scheduled the cases for a January 24, 2023, adjournment, pending (D P P) advice.
