The police operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a Lagos driver identified as Waheed Godwin after he was accused of abducting a female passenger and forcefully having s3xual int3rcourse with her without her consent.
Following the arrest, the suspect was arraigned before Magistrate Nwaka Patrick of the Yaba Magistrate’ s Court.
It was gathered that the suspect perpetrated the heinous act at the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State.
The suspect was slammed with a two- count charge bordering on detention and defilement and unlawful confinement of the victim.
The court heard that on the day of the incident, the victim entered the Toyota Sienna of the 44- year- old suspect as a passenger.
While on their way to her destination, the suspect abducted, detained, and defiled her in the process.
On getting to the Third Mainland Bridge, the suspect parked his vehicle, brought out a dagger, instructed the victim to strip herself naked then had sex with her in his car.
However, the suspect was later captured because he couldn’ t escape from the scene after fuel was finished in his vehicle.
The victim used that opportunity to raise an alarm that attracted people to the scene and the suspect was captured.
While addressing the court, Nurudeen Thomas who happens to be the police prosecutor revealed that the crime was perpetrated by the suspect around 10 pm on the 15th of October 2023 at the Third Mainland Bridge.
