At least ten passengers travelling to their hometown for the yuletide have been abducted along Ette- Umuopu Enugu- Ezike Road in the Igbo Eze North local government area of Enugu State, Saharareporters reports.
According to credible sources, the vehicle, a Peace Mass Transit bus was conveying passengers from Abuja when it came under attack a few kilometres from Umuopu community.

In a video that went viral, the bus with fleet number 583 could be seen in the middle of the road with its doors open. Goods belonging to the abducted passengers could also be seen scattered in the middle of the road.
A narrator in the video who spoke in pidgin English said only one passenger successfully escaped from the hoodlums. He said, ” Na those kidnappers, they come to my place now and scatter the Peace (Mass Transit bus), pack all the passengers and carry the driver. Even na self the motor still dey on and nobody dey inside the motor again. ”
He also said, ” The vehicle had passed the market and was already close to the expressway when the incident occurred. This place is close Umuopu but in the community yet. Some soldiers have come but they have not entered the bush(to rescue the victims). ”
As at the time of filing this report, the Enugu state police command is yet to comment on the incident. It is also unknown if the kidnappers have asked for ransom.
