“I Learnt How To Use Human Heads For Rituals On Facebook”- Man Who Beheaded OAU Student In Abeokuta
The arrest of 35- year- old suspect Akeem by detectives in the Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a chilling murder involving an 18- year- old student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Quadri Salami. Akeem allegedly committed the heinous act to obtain body parts for sale, revealing that he learned about using human heads from Facebook groups.
Quadri’ s month- long disappearance raised suspicions, ultimately leading to Akeem’ s arrest after a meticulous technical investigation. On December 6, 2023, Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu led a team to Akeem’ s residence at Mile 6, Ajebo area of Abeokuta, where they uncovered the deceased’ s decomposing body parts in a shallow grave.
The police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, revealed that the case was reported by Quadri’ s father on November 14, six days after his son’ s disappearance on November 8. Despite efforts to locate him, Quadri remained missing.
Through diligent intelligence gathering, detectives traced the missing boy’ s phone to Akeem, leading to his arrest. Akeem confessed to murdering Quadri and dismembering his body for sale to another native doctor, Ifaniyi, and potential buyers.
Akeem admitted to killing Quadri during a ritual bath session. He disclosed the process, from the murder to selling the body parts, for a total of N130, 000– N100, 000 for the head and N30, 000 for the palm. To cover his tracks, Akeem burned Quadri’ s clothes and disposed of his footwear and phone. He preserved the remaining body parts in alcohol- soaked plastic buckets, burying them for future use.
