A 22-year-old woman named Zainab Abidoye has revealed that she turned down a marriage proposal from her suitor, Alhaji, due to a significant age difference of about 30 years. Abidoye, who recently graduated from the University of Ilorin, explained that despite Alhaji’s caring nature, things took a turn when he brought up the topic of marriage.
Sharing her experience on X (formerly Twitter), Abidoye mentioned that Alhaji, who had already married another woman, sent her his wedding video, attempting to make her regret her decision. However, she emphasized that she doesn’t regret her choice, even though the bride in the video resembled her.
In addition to the age gap, Abidoye disclosed that she declined the marriage proposal because Alhaji wanted her to be his second wife, which she found unacceptable. She also hinted at undisclosed negative traits in Alhaji’s character and expressed her reluctance to marry him despite his wealth.
Abidoye concluded by asserting her belief in her own abilities and future success, stating that she’s not ready for marriage and won’t marry someone she doesn’t love, even if the person is financially well-off.
