The caregiver, entrusted with the child’s care by her mother, Mrs. Tosin Sunday, reportedly inflicted injuries on the young girl using a razor blade.
The incident unfolded following a minor disagreement between the caregiver and the child’s mother. In response, Clarita purchased a razor blade and reportedly harmed the 4-year-old. When the mother returned to collect her daughter, she discovered the injuries and promptly reported the matter to the local police.
Clarita was subsequently arrested and later transferred to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further investigation into her alleged actions. After thorough interrogation, the police found her culpable and charged her before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the offense, which carries potential imprisonment.
During her arraignment, Clarita pleaded not guilty, leading the prosecutor, Inspector Lucky Ihiehie, to request a hearing date for the police to present evidence supporting the charges. The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Layinka, granted the caregiver bail set at N200,000 along with two sureties who must demonstrate evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment, with addresses verified by the court.
