Oyo State: Employee Faces Court Charges for Allegedly Stealing N1.3 Million from Employer
In a legal proceeding, the Oyo State Police Command arraigned Zacchaus Joseph, a 34-year-old individual, at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan. The charge pertained to the alleged theft of N1,375,500 from his employer.
The prosecution, represented by Inspector Olusegun Adegboye, informed the court that the accused committed the offence between August 4, 2021, and April 17, 2023. During this period, Joseph served as the Asset Loan Manager at Grooming Center Microfinance Bank in Oluyole and Odo-Ona, Ibadan.
According to Adegboye, the defendant unlawfully appropriated the sum without the consent of his employer, contravening the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. Joseph, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Mrs S. I. Babalola granted the defendant bail in the amount of N400,000, requiring two sureties in a similar sum. The case is adjourned until December 19 for further hearing.
