Tragedy Strikes as Mother of Nine Takes Her Own Life
In a heartbreaking incident, a septuagenarian mother-of-nine reportedly took her own life by hanging in the early hours of Monday, November 6. This tragedy unfolded in Enamejewa Street, situated off the Warri/Sapele Road in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, leaving the community in mourning.
The woman ended her life by hanging herself with her wrapper in a public toilet located within the compound where she resided. The exact reasons for her heartbreaking decision remain shrouded in uncertainty, even as some speculate that economic hardship might have played a role.
The deceased woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, was known to be an indigene of Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state. Described as a devout Catholic faithful, it has been reported that she had previously conveyed threats of ending her life to her children.
Furthermore, locals disclosed that she had previously attempted to take her own life by consuming a poisonous substance the day before her tragic suicide, although her attempt proved unsuccessful.
It was the desperate cries of one of her young granddaughters that drew the attention of other tenants and neighbors, leading them to discover the lifeless body suspended within the toilet.
The septuagenarian’s body has been entrusted to the morgue at the Central Hospital, Warri, pending further investigations. As of now, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, has not yet commented on this tragic incident.
