Customs Seizes Ammunition, Marijuana in Rivers
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the Port Harcourt Area II Command announced the seizure of ammunition, as well as marijuana, and handed over two suspects, a pistol, and 9mm ammunition to the Nigeria Police.
Comptroller Baba Imam, who heads the command, revealed this information while addressing the press and providing details on the seized items at the command’s corporate office in Onne, Rivers. The command also reported that it generated over N246 billion in revenue between January and October.
Comptroller Imam credited these achievements to a renewed mindset within the service, facilitated by extensive training and retraining of officers, coupled with the provision of logistics and incentives.
During this period, officers of the area command seized nine containers, with a duty-paid value exceeding N1.16 billion, due to violations of import prohibition laws. The confiscated items included 724 bales of used clothing, 1,805 used tires, four vehicles used for concealing 76.9 kg of special cannabis (marijuana), and 2,070 cartons of tomato paste, among other items.
