BREAKING: NDLEA Arrests Two Men for Illegal Firearm Possession
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nasarawa State has arrested two individuals for the illegal possession of a firearm. The Nasarawa State Commander, Mr. Peter Onche-Odaudu, confirmed this arrest during a press conference held in Lafia on a recent Friday.
According to Commander Onche-Odaudu, the arrest took place on October 28, 2023, during a routine stop and search operation by NDLEA operatives from the Keffi Area Command. The operation occurred on the Keffi-Nasarawa Road when a commercial vehicle was stopped for inspection.
The two suspects, identified as Ibrahim Usman and Abdulrahman Sani, were taken into custody during this operation. They were en route to Nasarawa-Toto and were found in possession of a locally made pistol and one cartridge, both concealed in a black polythene bag.
The suspects claimed that the illegal firearm was given to them by an individual named Sani in Tashan Yaro, Katsina State, with instructions to deliver it to a person named Babangida in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. They were promised a sum of N200,000 to be shared between them for this task.
The arrested individuals are now scheduled to be transferred to the police for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
