- JUST IN: Yobe State Government Confirms Attack on Geidam Community
The Yobe State government has officially confirmed an attack on Ngurokayya village in the Geidam Local Government Area. Brig Gen Dahiru Abdulsalam (retd), the Special Adviser to Governor Buni on Security Matters, provided this confirmation during a briefing with the media after an emergency security meeting chaired by the governor.
He stated, “It is true that we have some cases of attacks in parts of Geidam Local Government Area. The attacks were targeted at soft targets by the insurgents, and some casualties were recorded.”
Regarding reports of Boko Haram insurgents collecting levies and taxes in the Geidam area, the special adviser dismissed these claims as rumors. He emphasized that there has been no concrete evidence of individuals paying such levies, taxes, or ransoms.
The Yobe State government has tasked security agencies to intensify their efforts and enhance their presence in the region to prevent criminals from operating and oppressing the state’s citizens, particularly in Geidam Local Government Area.
