JUST IN: President of Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero, Brutally Assaulted and Hospitalized
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, has been subjected to a vicious attack, leading to his hospitalization. His right eye was severely injured in the assault.
According to the NLC Head of Information and Publicity, Comrade Benson Upah, the incident was characterized as an abduction that escalated into an attempted murder. He reported that contact had been established with Comrade Joe Ajaero, who was located at the Police Hospital in Owerri and subsequently transferred to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where he is currently receiving medical care.
Ajaero, who was thoroughly brutalized, had his right eye completely closed at the time of contact. He recounted the ordeal, stating that following his arrest, he was beaten, blindfolded, and taken to an undisclosed location where he was subjected to further brutality, often involving the use of bottles. Additionally, his personal belongings, including his phones and money, were seized and not returned to him.
