With the news filtering into the state from Abuja, the Federal Capital, concerning the suit filed by Philip Umeadi SAN, questioning the candidacy of Governor Hope Uzodimma, in the 2019 General Elections, the continued stay in office of the Omuma born former senator, as well as the governorship aspirations of the Senator Samuel Anyanwu Samdaddy, Chief Athan Achonu amongst others, may come to a halt if the court rules in favour of a former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha.
Recall that Ihedioha was sacked by the Supreme Court in January of 2020.
The Supreme Court in their ruling, had declared Senator Hope Uzodimma the authentic winner of the 2019 Governorship election in the state, eight months after the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had declared and sworn in Ihedioha as winner.
The Supreme Court had also sacked Mr. Uche Nwosu, a son-in-law of former governor Rochas Okorocha, for supposedly being the candidate of both the All Progressives Congress APC, a well as the Action Alliance AA.
On the strength of the Supreme Court’s ruling against Uche Nwosu, Anambra born Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Philip Umeadi had approached the court, to interpret Senator Hope Uzodinma’s status as candidate of the party in that election.
Information reaching ImoTimes has it that the case which has been stalled for years, will come to its final conclusion on the 31th of October, exactly 11 days to the proposed Governorship election in the state.
Any ruling that goes against Governor Hope Uzodimma, in favour of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha, will automatically mean the end of the reign of Governor Hope Uzodimma as well as put a temporary if not permanent halt to the Governorship ambitions of Senator Samuel Anyanwu Samdaddy, Chief Athan Achonu amongst others, who will have to wait three and half more year to contest for the seat if they are still interested in it by then.
According to sources, there is heightened political tension across the camps in the state, as they all eagerly await the judgement of the Supreme Court in the matter.
There are believed to be very powerful political actors at play on the matter and all the players in the state are said to have relocated to Abuja
